Mercat de Collblanc

Mercat de Collblanc is an Art Deco marketplace with geometric decorations and symmetrical patterns adorning its facade. Large windows bring natural light to the interior spaces where permanent stalls sell fresh produce, meats, fish, and regional products.

Architect Ramon Puig i Gairalt completed this marketplace in 1932 during a period of architectural modernization in Catalonia. The building emerged when the city was updating its neighborhood infrastructure.

The market functions as a neighborhood gathering place where residents shop daily and interact with familiar vendors. It sustains traditional ways of buying fresh food that remain central to local life.

The marketplace operates Monday through Saturday, with extended hours on Friday until 20:00. Visitors can access both covered indoor stalls and open outdoor spaces, noting that each area offers different shopping experiences and product variety.

The marketplace maintains two distinct shopping environments under unified management: permanent indoor stalls and temporary outdoor spaces. This arrangement creates different shopping atmospheres that reflect how local residents prefer to shop.
