The Mercat de la Independència spans three fan-shaped halls with different lengths, covering 3,175 square meters of commercial space in central Terrassa.
Construction of the market began on July 4, 1904, replacing the former Hospital de Sant Llàtzer and marking its inauguration on November 14, 1908.
The market building represents a combination of Art Nouveau style and cast-iron architecture, designed by architects Antoni Pascual i Carretero and Melcior Vinyals i Muñoz.
