Palacio de los duques de San Carlos

The Palacio de los Duques de San Carlos is a Renaissance manor house featuring detailed stonework, intricate carvings, and tall windows on its main facade. The building displays the organized layout of rooms and decorated surfaces typical of homes built by powerful families during this period.

The building was constructed in the 15th century as a residence for the Vargas Carvajal family, influential nobles of the region. A major fire in 1595 permanently altered its original structure and shaped what visitors see today.

The palace is named for the dukes of San Carlos, who made this their home and used it to display their family's importance across generations. The rooms still contain artworks and objects that show how this noble family lived and what they valued.
