Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Jara, Religious hermitage in Ibahernando, Extremadura, Spain
The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Jara stands along the rural path of Santa Ana, three kilometers southwest of Ibahernando near a lagoon.
The original structure dates from the 16th century, with subsequent modifications in the 18th and 19th centuries, featuring masonry construction and stone pillars.
The annual pilgrimage to honor the Virgin of La Jara takes place on the last Saturday of April or the first Saturday of May.
The hermitage grounds cover 7,272 square meters and contain a Mannerist image of the Virgin with Child, measuring 83 by 37 centimeters.
Archaeological materials found near the site suggest the presence of a Roman temple before the construction of the current hermitage.
