Repsol Campus, Corporate headquarters in Méndez Álvaro, Madrid, Spain.
Repsol Campus is the corporate headquarters of the energy company Repsol, located in the Méndez Álvaro district of Madrid and made up of four low, horizontal buildings with glass facades arranged around a shared garden. The four structures are linked by covered walkways, forming a self-contained complex within the city.
The complex was designed by Spanish architect Rafael de La-Hoz and completed in 2013, with a strong focus on sustainable construction methods. It was among the first large office projects in Spain to meet strict energy efficiency standards for that type of building.
The campus takes its name from the Spanish energy company Repsol, whose identity shapes the whole site. Walking through the central garden, visitors can observe the daily rhythm of office workers moving between the four buildings.
The campus sits close to Méndez Álvaro station, served by the metro, commuter rail and several bus lines, making it easy to reach without a car. The site is not open to the general public, as it operates as a working corporate office.
The steel structure of the complex weighs more than twice that of the Eiffel Tower, which is unusual for a building of this type. This large amount of steel made it possible to create the long, column-free spans that give the interior its open feel.
