Sagrat Cor de Jesus

The Sagrat Cor de Jesus is a large statue standing on a hilltop north of Ibiza Town, overlooking the surrounding landscape and sea. The monument features a stone figure with outstretched arms and can be seen from many points across the island.

The monument was completed in 1947 following designs by architect Guillermo Moragues. Construction took place under the direction of Antonio Cardona Riera, who later became Bishop of Ibiza.

The statue represents Catholic faith on the island and serves as a place where locals and visitors come to reflect or pray. Many mark religious celebrations here, making it a focal point for spiritual gatherings throughout the year.

The monument can be reached by taking the EI-600 road from Ibiza Town toward Sant Antoni and turning right after the industrial zone. The site is easily accessible from town and offers parking for visitors.

The monument was inspired by the famous Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro and shares similar iconography with outstretched arms. This design made it a recognizable landmark visible from many directions across the island.
