Playa de Tereñes, Stone beach in Leces, Spain

Playa de Tereñes is a beach along the Cantabrian coast that stretches about 750 meters with dark sand and large stones scattered throughout. Cliffs rise dramatically from the water, framing the cove on either side.

The cliffs surrounding this beach contain dinosaur footprints preserved in the rock from the Jurassic period. These geological traces record an ancient past and contribute to the region's geological record.

Local fishermen continue to work these waters with small boats, demonstrating fishing methods that have been part of coastal life for generations. This working presence shapes the character of the place and connects visitors to its maritime traditions.

This beach lacks services, so bring water and food before arriving. Wear sturdy shoes since the ground is rocky and the approach involves walking on uneven terrain.

The beach sits within a protected landscape area designed partly to preserve its geological features. The three-toed dinosaur tracks visible in the cliffs are among the least known treasures of Asturian coastal geology.
