Punta Moscarter Lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse on northern coast of Ibiza, Spain
Punta Moscarter Lighthouse is a cylindrical concrete tower with a black and white spiral pattern on its exterior and a grey lantern room at the top. The structure stands roughly 52 meters tall, with its light source positioned about 93 meters above sea level.
Construction started in 1975 and the tower became operational in November 1978 after roughly three years of building. It was built during a time when modern automated systems were replacing the traditional need for lighthouse keepers.
The tower marks the northern tip of Ibiza and serves as a distinctive landmark for ships navigating Mediterranean waters. Its black and white spiral pattern makes it recognizable from far away at sea.
The location sits on an exposed northern headland and is best reached in fair weather conditions due to the rocky coastline. Nearby paths offer different approaches depending on which route you choose for your visit.
This is the tallest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands and was designed from the start without keeper quarters. Its complete automation allowed it to be built as a pure technical installation without extra support buildings.
