Ciudad BBVA, Corporate headquarters in Las Tablas, Madrid, Spain
Ciudad BBVA is a large business complex in Las Tablas featuring a central 93-meter tower surrounded by seven interconnected low-rise buildings that frame a circular plaza. The entire site covers 114,000 square meters and accommodates around 6,000 workers in open-plan office spaces.
The complex was built between 2007 and 2015 on a site where eight unfinished office buildings once stood. This transformation marked a major change in Madrid's financial district.
The design incorporates elements of traditional Arabian gardens, visible in the narrow pathways, courtyards, and water features scattered throughout the site. This approach gives the complex an unexpected character for a modern business center.
The site includes various amenities such as restaurants, a nursery, sports facilities, and a semi-Olympic swimming pool spread throughout the grounds. The buildings are arranged around the central plaza, making it straightforward to navigate the complex.
At the heart of the complex lies a large trading floor where financial specialists manage thousands of daily transactions while monitoring large screens displaying live market information. This operationally important area often goes unnoticed by most visitors.
