The church features a decorated entrance portal with eight arches, crowned by a large rose window and numerous sculptural elements on the facade.
Construction of Santa María la Real took place between the 13th and 14th centuries, becoming a ceremonial site for Navarrese monarchs near their palace.
The interior houses a Renaissance altarpiece by Pedro Aponte and a 14th-century Gothic sculpture of Christ known as Cristo de la Buena Muerte.
Located at Plaza Teobaldos 1, the church maintains regular visiting hours and stands adjacent to the Royal Palace of Olite.
The tympanum displays intricate stone carvings depicting scenes from Jesus's life, including the Annunciation, Birth, and Baptism in medieval artistic style.
