Goya Museum - Ibercaja Collection - Camón Aznar Museum, Art museum in central Zaragoza, Spain
The Goya Museum, also known as the Camón Aznar Museum, displays over 800 artworks across three floors in a Renaissance palace with paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics from different periods. The collection brings together works by Spanish artists and presents extensive material spanning several centuries.
The building was constructed in 1535 under architect Juan de Lanuza as a representative Renaissance structure. During the 1808 War of Independence, it served as military headquarters and experienced a period of significant political upheaval.
The second floor displays Goya's complete print collection, including his most famous series like Los Caprichos and The Disasters of War. These rooms give you a direct sense of how the artist observed everyday life and society across different periods.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday with morning and early evening visiting hours. Access to all three floors is easy to find and the collection can be covered in a typical museum visit.
The collection preserves first editions of Goya's most famous prints in their original form, which are rarely seen elsewhere. Added to this are works by nearly forgotten Spanish artists like Blasco de Grañen and Juan Sariñena, offering a deeper look at the artistic diversity of the region.
