Passeig Maristany, Tree-lined promenade in Camprodon, Spain.
Passeig Maristany is a tree-lined promenade in Camprodon with a central avenue roughly 20 meters wide featuring four rows of trees that separate different walking areas. The route includes wide pedestrian zones with grass sections, roadways on both sides, and stone-paved exterior sidewalks.
The promenade was designed in 1923 by Francesc Carles Maristany i Garriga working with architect Bernardí Martorell, emerging from the development of former farmland. This project was part of the town's urban expansion during the early 20th century.
The street contains residential buildings designed by notable architects including Duran i Reynals, Coderch, Mitjans, and Sagnier, representing different Catalan building styles. These structures shape how the promenade looks and reflect the architectural choices of their era.
The pathway is easy to walk with wide, level surfaces and clear separation between pedestrian, grass, and traffic areas. The extensive tree coverage provides shade on sunny days and helps with orientation along the route.
The curved layout of the promenade creates an optical effect where neither the start nor the finish is visible from any single location. This design choice gives the walk a sense of flowing continuity and discovery.
