Iglesia de San Bernardo

Iglesia de San Bernardo is a Catholic church in Seville with three naves arranged in a Latin cross plan and a central dome resting on an octagonal drum. Both entrance facades are crafted from brick and exhibit neoclassical design principles.

Construction took place between 1780 and 1785 under architect José Álvarez. The church suffered serious damage from fire and looting in 1936, which led to subsequent restoration efforts.

The Brotherhood of San Bernardo uses the church as a gathering place for its members and as the starting point for processions during Holy Week. These religious ceremonies remain a central part of local spiritual life and draw participants from across the city.

The church is located on Calle Santo Rey 23 and maintains regular religious services throughout the year. Visitors are welcome to enter during non-service hours to view the architectural features and the interior layout.

The main altar holds a statue of the Virgin of Refuge, a sculpture that holds special significance for the San Bernardo Brotherhood. This neoclassical altarpiece demonstrates how the spiritual identity of the brotherhood is expressed through its primary artwork.
