Platges de Peguera, Mediterranean beach in Calvià, Spain
Platges de Peguera is a Mediterranean beach on the southwest coast of Mallorca, divided into several connected sandy sections running along the shore. The sand is pale and fine, the water stays shallow near the shore, and a promenade ties the different sections together.
Peguera was a small fishing settlement with little outside attention until the mid-20th century. In the 1960s, hotel construction began along the coast and gradually turned the area into a resort destination.
The promenade behind the sand is lined with restaurants and cafes facing the sea, where visitors tend to linger well into the evening. This stretch of coast has taken on the relaxed rhythm of a place built around the water.
Lifeguards are on duty during summer months, and showers and restrooms are available along the beach. Arriving in the morning gives you a better chance of finding space, as the sand fills up quickly on warm days.
Just below the surface a short distance from shore, snorkelers can spot sea bream, mullet, and other fish without any special gear. This makes the water worth exploring even for those who did not come specifically for diving.
