Parque de San Telmo is a public park in the center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, located right next to the Calle Triana and the bus station that shares its name. It features shaded tree-lined paths, open lawn areas, a children's playground, a dog-friendly zone, a music kiosk, and the small Ermita de San Telmo chapel.
The site where the park now stands was once the northern boundary wall of Las Palmas, and the sea used to reach as far as the Ermita de San Telmo. In the 19th century, the city's first dock was built here before the area was later transformed into a public park in 1876.
The 1923 Quiosco Modernista, designed by Rafael Massanet, now serves as an open-air café and is one of the most eye-catching spots in the park. People of all ages pass through, from older residents reading on benches to families letting children run on the grass.
The park sits directly next to the San Telmo bus station, making it easy to reach on foot from the city center. A tourist information point inside the former newspaper kiosk can help visitors get their bearings and plan the rest of their day.
The Ermita de San Telmo dates from the 16th century and is one of the oldest buildings still standing in the city, with a doorway that mixes Gothic and Renaissance details. Inside, there is an altar that visitors can see when the chapel is open.
