Arzobispo's bridge

Arzobispo's bridge, Medieval stone bridge in El Puente del Arzobispo and Villar del Pedroso, Spain

Arzobispo's bridge is a medieval structure built from granite and stone that spans the Tajo River. It connects El Puente del Arzobispo and Villar del Pedroso in the Extremadura region.

An archbishop named Pedro Tenorio built this crossing during the medieval period to improve trade between nearby communities. His impact shaped the names and identity of the area.

The bridge links two communities and served as a natural gathering point for people traveling between them. Its position in the river valley made it a practical place where locals would cross and exchange goods.

The bridge is reached by walking roughly 2 kilometers from the main road that connects the two towns. Wear proper footwear since the path crosses natural terrain with uneven surfaces.

The location sits surrounded by striking granite formations and water-carved rock walls shaped by millions of years of erosion. These natural features create a dramatic setting that was already in place long before the bridge was built.
