Puerta de Toledo

Puerta de Toledo is a Gothic city gate in Ciudad Real featuring two rectangular towers and a central passage. Both facades display pointed arches and horseshoe arch designs that characterize medieval defensive architecture.

Construction began in 1255 under King Alfonso X and was completed in 1328 during the reign of King Alfonso XI of Castile. The extended building period reflected the structure's importance as a major defensive fortification for the city.

The stone walls display intricate architectural elements, including the Castile coat of arms and seven different stonemason marks throughout the structure.
