Torre del Asperillo

Torre del Asperillo is a 16th-century stone watchtower located on the coast near Almonte and was designed for surveillance purposes. The structure sits on elevated ground with clear views across the sea and the settlements nearby.

The tower was built during King Felipe II's reign as part of a defensive system against Barbary pirates. This network of fortifications emerged to protect the Andalusian coast from raids.

This defensive structure represents the architectural methods of coastal fortifications in southern Spain, incorporating elements for both surveillance and defense purposes.
