Playa de Torre del Loro

Playa de Torre del Loro stretches along the eastern coast of Huelva with fine golden sand and shifting width. The beach lies between the towns of Matalascañas and Mazagón and is backed by low dunes and pine groves.

In the 16th century under King Philip II, a watchtower was built on the coast to protect against North African pirates. The beach's name still recalls this defensive structure today.

The beach keeps its natural appearance without modern buildings or promenades, showing the raw coastal character of Huelva province. Visitors find here an unspoiled setting typical of this southwestern region.

The beach is suitable for swimming and offers basic facilities for visitors. Access has been restored after renovation work and is now easy to reach.

Beneath the waters near this beach rest the remains of the ship Rayo, which participated in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This wreck connects the place to an important chapter of Spanish naval history.
