Claudio Moyano, Educational monument near Atocha station, Madrid, Spain

The bronze statue shows Claudio Moyano standing on a stone pedestal with four detailed bronze reliefs at Plaza del Emperador Carlos V.

The monument, designed by Agustín Querol in 1899, honors the Spanish statesman who created the 1857 Education Law that structured Spain's education system.

The statue stands at the start of Cuesta de Moyano, a street featuring 30 wooden stalls that form Madrid's permanent second-hand book market.

The monument sits between Paseo del Prado and Buen Retiro Park, near major cultural institutions like CaixaForum Madrid and Reina Sofia Museum.

Teachers from various Spanish provinces contributed funds through a public subscription campaign to construct this memorial to education reform.
