Aranda de Duero bullring

Aranda de Duero bullring, bullring in Aranda de Duero, Spain

The bullring of Aranda de Duero is a modern facility that opened in 2004 with seating for about 5,300 spectators. The structure has a simple, functional design with a sand-covered arena in the center, surrounded by seating arranged so everyone can see the action clearly.

The original bullring, La Chata, opened in 1948 and was made of wood, with famous matadors like Ángel Luis Bienvenida and Pepín Martín Vázquez performing at the opening. The old structure was demolished in 2003 and replaced by the new Ribera del Duero arena, which opened in 2004.

The bullring is where the community gathers for celebrations and special occasions, particularly during September festivals honoring the Virgin of the Vines. The arena shapes the town's identity and reflects how deeply bullfighting is woven into local life and tradition.

Check the event schedule before visiting, as bullfights take place mainly during festivals or on weekends. Arriving early helps secure a good seat and gives you time to see the preparations happening around the arena.

In 2014, local bullfighter Morenito de Aranda performed in a rare event facing six bulls in succession, leaving a strong impression on the community. This memorable moment shows how deeply bullfighting tradition runs in the town.
