Santa Cruz Roman villa

Santa Cruz Roman villa is an archaeological site containing ten rooms and several corridors that show how a wealthy family lived in ancient times. The building had a water system and used underground passages to heat the rooms.

The villa stood on an important trade route between several Roman cities and was occupied during the late ancient period. It belonged to a territory that was known for its strategic position.

The main hall displays a large mosaic with mythological scenes that give visitors a sense of what stories mattered to the wealthy residents who lived here. The artistic craftsmanship shows how much care went into decorating this private space.

When visiting, be prepared for uneven ground and partially excavated areas since the site is still being studied by archaeologists. You will get the most from the visit if you allow time to understand the room layout and how the water system worked.

Parts of the impressive mosaic floor disappeared in the early 2010s, which shows how important it is to protect these archaeological treasures. The remaining sections visible today tell visitors about the artistic decoration of that time.
