The castle features a square Tower of Homage with two vaulted indoor sections and multiple defensive towers positioned at corners and intermediate points.
Built over a Moorish tower in the 13th century, the fortress served as a crucial defensive position until its destruction by Granada's forces in 1368.
The castle's courtyard serves as a venue for film screenings, theatrical performances, and music events throughout the summer season.
The fortress stands on a natural hill in central Utrera, near Santiago Parish Church and the Convent of the Immaculate Conception.
The original fortification extended across eighteen hectares, incorporating thirty-eight towers and four gates, with only the Villa Gate remaining today.
