Kiikartorni Observation Tower

Kiikartorni is an observation tower in Rauma that stands above Syväraumanlahti Bay, giving a clear view across the coastal landscape. The structure lets visitors see the full expanse of the harbor, the adjacent buildings, and the water stretching beyond.

The current structure was built in 1992 to replace an older watchtower that served the same purpose. The new design kept the style of the original harbor observation post, honoring the site's long tradition.

The tower reflects how important it was for this coastal community to watch over the harbor and water traffic. From its height, visitors can understand how maritime activity shaped Rauma's character and daily rhythm.

The tower is open from May through September with no entrance fee. Visitors should arrive during daylight hours to get the most from the views, especially on clear days when the horizon extends far.

During World Mental Health Day, the tower glows in green light, becoming a visible sign of community awareness and care. This annual light transformation connects this historic observation post to causes that matter to the city today.
