Bad Bad Boy, Concrete sculpture in West Harbour, Helsinki, Finland
Bad Bad Boy is a pink concrete sculpture standing 8.5 meters tall at West Harbour in Helsinki, featuring a surprised facial expression with blushing cheeks. The work weighs approximately 7.5 tons and depicts a person in a moment that is typically kept private.
The artwork was created by Finnish artist Tommi Toija and first installed in Örebro, Sweden, during summer 2013. The sculpture relocated to Helsinki in 2014, becoming a permanent addition to the city's public art collection.
The sculpture depicts a moment of human vulnerability presented as public art in an unexpected way. This subject matter has inspired artists across Europe to explore similar themes in their own cities.
The sculpture is located near the Helsinki Computer and Game Console Museum and can be reached by tram lines 6T and 7 stopping at West Terminal Two. The site is easily accessible on foot and visitable in any weather conditions.
The artwork features a heated water system that allows it to function year-round, even during harsh Finnish winters. This technical innovation enables the sculpture to operate independently of frost or snowfall.
