Founded in the 7th century BC as Ugernum, Beaucaire served as a crucial junction on the Via Domitia during Roman times and later developed into a medieval stronghold.
The Fair of la Madeleine, established during medieval times, transformed Beaucaire into a major commercial center rivaling the port of Marseille in trade volume.
The town maintains six kindergartens, seven primary schools, four colleges, and two high schools, serving its population of 15,680 residents as of 2021.
