The 55-hectare vineyard of Château Durfort-Vivens contains deep gravel mounds with clay and sandy elements, supporting primarily Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties.
The Durfort de Duras family established this wine estate in the 14th century, and it received Second Growth classification in the 1855 Bordeaux wine ranking.
Thomas Jefferson documented Durfort-Vivens in his diaries, placing it among top Bordeaux estates alongside Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Latour.
Visitors can explore the estate's terracotta jar wine cellar, which holds the largest collection of aging amphorae vessels in the wine industry.
The estate produces Durfort Vivens Blanc de Noir, combining Cabernet Franc and Muscadelle grapes to create a white wine from red grape varieties.
