Opéra national du Rhin

The Opéra national du Rhin is an opera company that presents performances across three venues in the Alsace region, with its main theater located on Place Broglie in Strasbourg. The building houses an Opera Studio for young singers and works with two regional orchestras to stage classical and contemporary productions.

An early opera house opened in 1701 in a converted granary, while the current theater building dates to 1873 following reconstruction after German bombardment. Between 1919 and 1938, conductor Paul Bastide led the venue and made it known for notable French premieres of international works.
