Château de Losse, Renaissance château in Thonac, France

The château rises above the Vézère River with defensive towers, moats, and underground passages integrated into its Renaissance architectural design from the 16th century.

Originally constructed as a medieval fortress, the château transformed into a grand Renaissance residence during the 16th century while maintaining its military features.

The château maintains period furnishings throughout its grand living quarters, offering visitors direct contact with Renaissance decorative arts and lifestyle.

Guided tours in multiple languages lead visitors through the château and its gardens from April to November, with adult admission priced at 10 euros.

The gardens received the Jardin Remarquable designation for their Renaissance design featuring elevated terraces overlooking the Vézère River valley.
