Abbaye Notre-Dame de Paimpont

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Paimpont is a former Cistercian abbey featuring Gothic and Baroque elements throughout its stone structure, reinforced by thick buttresses that support its weight. A prominent bell tower rises above the complex, making the religious purpose clear from a distance.

The abbey was founded in 1136 by Cistercian monks and underwent significant rebuilding during the 17th century as part of the Counter-Reformation movement. These renovations added new canonical buildings alongside the original monastic structures.
