Borne au Lion, Historic boundary stone at Crêt de Chalam, France.

The Lion Stone stands at an elevation of 1,289 meters in the Jura Mountains, marking the intersection of three administrative regions.

Established in 1613, this boundary marker defined the frontier between Franche-Comté and Bugey following the Treaties of Lyon and Auxonne.

The stone features an engraved lion, representing the symbol of Franche-Comté, and received historical monument status in January 1926.

The hiking trail to reach the stone extends 7.46 kilometers with an elevation gain of 540 meters through forest paths and alpine meadows.

During World War II, the surrounding wooded area served as a resistance base, with a field hospital operating near the current memorial site.
