Crêt de la Neige, Mountain summit in Thoiry, France

The Crêt de la Neige rises to 1720 meters, making it the highest elevation point in both the Jura Mountains and the Ain department of France.

Local blacksmiths and residents from the town of Thoiry installed a metal cross at the mountain summit to mark this geographical high point.

The peak stands within the Regional Nature Park of Jura Mountains, where European Globeflowers, Scabiosa, and Gentian grow in the mountain grasslands.

Hikers can reach the summit through multiple marked trails, with the most direct route starting from the Tiocan observation point beyond Thoiry.

Recent measurements in 2024 determined the exact highest point at 1720.83 meters, while the geodetic marker stands at 1718.06 meters.
