Colomby de Gex

Colomby de Gex is a mountain summit in the Jura range at 1689 meters elevation, topped by a visible metal pylon structure. The limestone formation creates a distinctive peak that can be spotted from many points in the region.

The metal pylon was manufactured in Paris and erected in 1907 by a local mutual association dedicated to community values. This structure marked an important moment when the summit became a recognized destination for gathering and reflection.

The monument at the summit expresses a sense of local unity and community bonds that emerged in the early 1900s. Standing here, you can feel the connection to people who came before and shared the same view over the mountains.

Access to the summit is via hiking trails marked with yellow signs that begin from La Faucille and lead upward through forest and meadow. Sturdy footwear is necessary, and weather conditions can change rapidly, so check conditions before starting your walk.

A memorial stone near the pylon honors Swiss aviator Fernand Fluckiger, whose aircraft crashed in the region in 1932. This quiet tribute connects the mountain to an early chapter in aviation history.
