The Centre de la Mer et des Eaux contains seven aquariums with a total volume of 15,000 liters displaying marine species from coral reefs and French Atlantic coast.
The facility opened in 1978 within the Institut Océanographique building, which was established in 1906 by Albert I, Prince of Monaco, and inaugurated in 1911.
Through exhibitions and workshops, the center promotes understanding of marine ecosystems, oceanography research, and environmental conservation among students and researchers.
Located at 195 Rue Saint-Jacques, the center operates Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 6 PM and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM with a midday break.
The largest aquarium tank holds 4,000 liters of seawater and displays various marine species alongside a terrarium housing rescued turtles from private collections.
