Château de Boumois

Château de Boumois is a stone castle with two earthen bastions positioned at the eastern ends of the surrounding moats. The main residence and chapel are linked by vaulted rooms that create a unified interior space.

Construction started in the early 1520s under the direction of master mason Jean Pymotz for the nobleman René de Thory. The first phase included essential service areas such as the kitchen, pantry, and cellar access.

The chapel dedicated to Saint Anne shows the religious importance this place held for the families who lived here over the centuries. You can see how the space reflects their faith through its architectural details and design.
