The museum occupies 7,800 square meters in a former industrial building, featuring operational machines that demonstrate traditional lace-making techniques and processes.
The museum building was originally the Boulart factory, which operated from 1874 to 2000 and contained 170 looms during its peak production in 1927.
The museum presents over 3,220 fashion pieces from 1850 to present day, along with 500,000 lace samples in the specialized Tissuthèque section.
The museum received national recognition as Musée de France in 2015 and welcomes approximately 50,000 visitors annually through its exhibitions and educational programs.
The facility maintains working Leavers machines, allowing visitors to observe the intricate mechanical process of creating Calais-Caudry lace patterns.
