Four à porcelaine des Casseaux, Porcelain heating furnace in Limoges, France

This cylindrical furnace measures 21 meters in height and 8 meters in diameter, constructed with 120,000 heat-resistant bricks reinforced with iron bands.

Built in 1900 for the Gerard-Dufraisseix-Abbott factory, this reversed flame furnace remained operational until the 1950s when gas firing methods replaced traditional techniques.

The furnace represents the industrial heritage of Limoges porcelain production, with two chambers allowing different firing temperatures of 900 and 1400 degrees.

The museum opens daily from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with guided tours available by appointment and admission fees between 4.50€ and 8€.

This structure remains the last large round reversed flame furnace in France, capable of firing 15,000 porcelain pieces simultaneously in its 80 cubic meter chamber.
