Prefecture hotel of Charente-Maritime

The Charente-Maritime prefecture combines three separate mansions at 38 Reaumur Street, creating an architectural ensemble in the center of La Rochelle.

The prefecture services moved into the Poupet and Lanusse mansions in 1814, later incorporating the Pont des Granges mansion in 1904 to complete the administrative complex.

The Poupet mansion, built in 1785 for shipowner Michel Poupet, exemplifies 18th-century architecture adapted for La Rochelle's maritime merchant class.

The administrative building, registered as a historical monument since 2006, houses state services and manages departmental affairs for Charente-Maritime.

The facade of the Lanusse mansion displays modifications from both the 18th and 19th centuries, revealing the building's architectural evolution.
