Théâtre du Jeu de Paume, 18th-century Italian-style theatre in Aix-en-Provence, France
The Théâtre du Jeu de Paume contains 493 seats arranged in an Italian architectural style with an elliptical dome adorned by the Genius of Music painting.
Originally built as a royal tennis court where King Louis XIV played in 1660, the building transformed into a theatre in 1787 through funding from local artisans.
The theatre presents numerous performances throughout the year, from classical music concerts to contemporary plays, featuring renowned artists and theatrical productions.
Performances generally start at 8:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday, except Wednesdays at 7 PM, with an elevator accessing the balcony and a bar service available.
The theatre maintains a partnership with Café Zimmermann ensemble since 2021 and holds the national designation for Art and Creation, focusing on young audiences.
