The Church of Saint-Jean-de-Malte stands at the intersection of rue d'Italie and rue Cardinale, featuring a 67-meter-high tower that dominates the city skyline.
Built between 1272 and 1277, this religious structure served as the burial place for the Counts of Provence and belonged to the Knights Hospitaller of Malta.
The church maintains an active monastic presence through the Brotherhood of Apostolic Monks, who conduct regular religious services and ceremonies.
Visitors can observe the 2006 Daniel Kern baroque organ, nineteenth-century stained glass windows, and numerous historical paintings inside the church.
This structure holds the distinction of being the first Gothic church constructed in the Provence region of France.
