Collégiale Saint-Pierre de Six-Fours

Collégiale Saint-Pierre de Six-Fours, Romanesque church on hilltop in Six-Fours-les-Plages, France.

The Collégiale Saint-Pierre is a Romanesque church sitting on a hilltop above Six-Fours-les-Plages, defined by stone walls, rounded arches, and a distinctive bell tower. Inside, the building combines medieval structural elements with modern stained glass and continues to serve as an active place of worship.

Construction began in the 11th century as a Romanesque structure and later received Gothic additions. These expansions were completed in the early 17th century and shaped the building as it stands today.

The church interior combines medieval architecture with modern stained glass windows and hosts summer concerts in its historical setting.

The site is best reached on foot, with the final stretch becoming steeper as you approach the summit. Comfortable shoes are recommended since the climb is brief but does require some effort.

From this elevated perch, visitors can gaze across Toulon harbor and toward the island of Embiez, a vista that differs noticeably from the surrounding terrain. On clear days this view becomes particularly notable and offers reference points across several kilometers.
