Séminaire Saint-Irénée, Historical monument in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, France

The Saint-Irénée Seminary features stone facades and geometric volumes designed by architect Louis Sainte-Marie-Perrin at the beginning of the 20th century.

Archbishop Camille de Neuville established the seminary in 1663, and after several relocations, it settled in its current building between 1900 and 1903.

The religious institution provided seven years of education in philosophy, theology, and pastoral studies to prepare future Catholic priests for their ministry.

Between 2009 and 2012, the seminary building underwent renovation works to convert the space into 98 residential apartments named Résidence de Neuville.

The seminary established a partnership with the University of Valence in 1738 to ensure high-level academic education for its priesthood candidates.
