Église Saint-Siméon de Bouliac, Romanesque church in Bouliac, France
The Saint-Siméon church features a western portal with three archivolts separated by sculpted bands resting on six decorated columns with geometric patterns.
Built in the 12th century on the site of a Gallo-Roman villa, the church received fortifications during the Hundred Years War under Archbishop Pey Berland.
The nave walls display 20-meter-long and 4-meter-high frescoes painted by Boudon and Vernay in 1896, divided into three distinct panels.
The church, located at 12 Rue de l'Église in Bouliac, maintains specific visiting hours and receives additional visitors during Heritage Days.
The church stands above a prehistoric cave called Ermitage, which contains evidence of human presence dating back to 16,000 BCE.
