Maison-forte de Seix

The quadrangular stone building features a northeast corner tower, two pavilion towers at the northwest and southwest angles, and a staircase tower on the west facade.

Built in the mid-16th century on earlier foundations, the fortress controlled a critical route between France and Spain, serving as one of two castles in medieval Seix.

The interior preserves Empire-style decorations from the 19th century, including stucco ornaments in the first-floor salon and carved stone reliefs at the entrance.

The building houses an interpretation center for the Haut-Salat valleys, offering guided tours and educational programs throughout most of the year.

The structure sits strategically on a slope overlooking the Salat Valley, with its walls constructed from a mix of sandstone, pebbles, and crushed brick materials.
