Erbsenberg

Erbsenberg is a summit in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park where multiple hiking trails including the GR532 and Tres Tabernae paths meet. The area features a network of marked routes starting from Hanau Lake that guide walkers through forested terrain and past water features.

The mountain has long been connected to water management, particularly through Cistercian monks from nearby monasteries who developed systems around the streams and lakes. This relationship with water resources shaped the region's development over many centuries.

The nearby Notre Dame des Bois Chapel reflects how people in this area have long connected their faith with the surrounding nature, with the building serving as a gathering point for visitors exploring the region.

Access to the summit is provided by several marked circular trails maintained by Club Vosgien starting from Hanau Lake. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for steep forest paths, especially after rain when the ground becomes slippery.

The summit overlooks Étang de l'Erbsenthal, a large forested lake shared between two communes that serves as a restful place for hikers passing through. Surrounded by thick forest, this water body creates quiet moments that give the area a special quality.
