Quai Claude-Bernard stretches along the left bank of the Rhône River, forming a three-kilometer promenade between Place Raspail and Avenue Berthelot.
The riverfront received its name in June 1878 by prefectural decree, replacing previous names including Quai de la Vitriolerie and Quai du Prince-Imperial.
