The Irish Museum of Modern Art operates from the Royal Hospital Kilmainham building, displaying over 3,500 contemporary artworks across multiple exhibition spaces.
The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, constructed between 1680 and 1684, served retired soldiers until 1928 before becoming the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 1991.
The museum maintains an extensive collection of post-1940 Irish and international art, featuring photographs, videos, paintings, and sculptures in its permanent exhibition.
Visitors can access the museum Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 to 17:30, Saturdays from 10:00 to 17:30, and Sundays from 12:00 to 17:30 with free admission.
The museum operates an artist residency program within its historical premises, enabling direct interaction between working artists and museum visitors.
