Laurence's Gate, Medieval barbican in Drogheda, Ireland.

Saint Laurence Gate features two circular towers connected by a wall and an archway, rising four floors high with a bridge at the summit.

Built in 1280 outside the original walls of Drogheda, this structure formed part of the town's defenses against Edward Bruce's army in 1317.

The gate stands as a testament to medieval Irish fortification methods, demonstrating the architectural capabilities of thirteenth-century stone construction techniques.

Visitors can climb to the top of the south tower via internal stairs, accessing panoramic views of the Boyne River estuary and surrounding landscape.

The structure incorporates random stone building techniques, with irregular stone layering visible from Palace Street creating distinct patterns in the masonry.
