נמל המפרץ, Mediterranean port in Haifa Bay, Israel
Haifa Bay Port (נמל המפרץ) is a cargo port on the northern coast of Israel, located in Haifa Bay. It has container terminals equipped with large cranes and is built to handle heavy freight traffic.
The port opened in 2015 as part of a plan to expand Israel's maritime capacity along the northern coast. It was built alongside the older Haifa port to handle the growing volume of trade passing through the eastern Mediterranean.
The port sits on the northern Israeli coast and receives cargo ships from across the Mediterranean, Europe, and Asia on a regular basis. Watching vessels come and go from the waterfront gives a clear sense of how connected this stretch of coast is to the rest of the world.
The port is an active working area that operates around the clock, so public access to the docks is restricted. Views of the cranes and vessels are possible from the nearby waterfront.
In 2024, the port received new container cranes that allow it to serve several large ocean vessels at the same time. This makes it one of the few ports in the eastern Mediterranean with that level of capacity.
