Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary, Protected wildlife area in Visakhapatnam, India
The sanctuary covers 70.70 square kilometers of dry evergreen forests, scrub, and meadows with steep slopes near the Eastern Ghats mountain range.
The Maharajah of Vizianagaram administered these lands until March 10, 1970, when the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department assumed control of the territory.
The name originates from the local hillock Kambalakonda, reflecting the geographical connections between the land and regional terminology.
The sanctuary operates daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with entry fees of 10 rupees for adults and guided treks available for 150 rupees.
The presence of Indian leopards, pythons, paradise flycatchers, and over 70 species of medicinal plants creates a complete ecosystem within the sanctuary.
